Llandudno Man Jailed for Multiple Town Centre Offences

A Llandudno man has been sentenced to 42 weeks in prison following a series of offences in the town centre, including assault on an emergency worker and multiple thefts.

Michael Martin, 31, of Ewloe Drive, was convicted of:

  • Three counts of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress
  • Using threatening, abusive, or insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence
  • Failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time
  • Being drunk and disorderly in a public place
  • Common assault of an emergency worker
  • Five counts of theft
  • Racially/religiously aggravated harassment/alarm/distress by words/writing
  • Criminal damage

Under his three-year Criminal Behaviour Order, Martin must not:

  • Engage or threaten to engage in conduct capable of causing nuisance, annoyance, alarm or distress in any public or private place in England and Wales
  • Use foul, abusive, insulting, offensive, threatening, disorderly, or intimidating language or behaviour in any public place in England and Wales, or towards any person
  • Be in possession of any open container of alcohol in any public place in Wales unless in or on licensed premises
  • Enter any licensed premises which he has been banned from either verbally or in writing

District Inspector Catherine Walker said: “Michael Martin has been a persistent offender in Llandudno over recent months, and today marks the culmination of a sustained effort to bring him to justice for his offences.

“I welcome today’s sentence, and also the imposition of a three year Criminal Behaviour Order, which means that when he is released, any further offences will mean that he is placed before the Court, and he may be jailed again.

“We are committed to robustly tackling all forms of criminality and anti-social behaviour as we appreciate the detrimental effect this has on the community.” ⚖️
