A 29-year-old woman has been sentenced to four months in prison after being caught repeatedly stealing from shops across Merthyr Tydfil.

Criminal behaviour order breach

Shannon Wilce, of Merthyr Tydfil, was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order that banned her from entering Cyfarthfa Retail Park. Despite this, she targeted TK Maxx at the retail park as part of a spree of thefts that also included One Stop and Jollyes.

Recent release

Wilce had only recently been released from prison for similar offending before she was arrested again by South Wales Police’s neighbourhood support team.

Sentencing

She appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 21, and received a four-month custodial sentence.

Police Constable Liam Jones said: “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure offenders like Wilce are brought before the courts at the earliest opportunity. Protecting our businesses and communities from harm remains a priority, and this sentence sends a clear message that this type of offending will not be tolerated.”
