Work is now underway on a major new entertainment complex in Cardiff city centre, with Hollywood Bowl XL building a two-floor venue at St David’s Cardiff – the first of its kind for the brand.
The development marks Hollywood Bowl’s move into larger multi-entertainment centres, combining bowling, gaming and high-speed activities under one roof. It will be the company’s second location in the Welsh capital, alongside its existing site at the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay.
What’s inside
The venue will feature 20 ten-pin bowling lanes, interactive darts, a live sports bar and a large amusements area with a mix of modern and classic arcade games, including Mario Kart, Namco machines, air hockey and racing games.
In a first for the brand, the centre will also include electric go-karting, introducing a new high-speed activity to the Hollywood Bowl XL experience.
Visitors can also expect the company’s well-known diner, serving American-style favourites including burgers, hot dogs, shakes and signature cocktails.
Jobs and opening
The development is expected to create more than 50 new jobs in Cardiff across leisure, hospitality and customer service. The company says new recruits will benefit from its training and development programmes aimed at supporting career progression in the sector.
The venue is expected to open in summer 2026, offering a new destination for group nights out, family visits and competitive socialising in the Welsh capital.
