A 29-year-old man from Gwynedd has been sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison for raping a teenage girl in a case that has highlighted the importance of survivors coming forward. ⚖️

Kyle Martin John Parry, formerly of the Caernarfon area, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Tuesday, 10 June, where he was sentenced for historic offences that occurred in 2015 when the victim was just 15 years old.

The court heard that Parry had previous convictions for sexually assaulting a five-year-old boy in 2017. His latest sentence related to charges of sexual activity with a child and sexual assault by penetration.

DC Dominique Swift praised the victim’s courage, stating: “I wish to praise the bravery of the victim in this case for trusting us and talking to us. She showed tremendous courage in court today and chose to read her Victim Personal Statement directly to the man who attacked her.

“Please let this be a message to others who may be suffering in silence. We will listen. We will do everything in our power to bring those who inflict sexual harm to justice. We are here to support you.”

North Wales Police emphasised their commitment to investigating all reports of sexual abuse, regardless of when they occurred. They highlighted that victims of most sexual offences are granted lifelong anonymity, with details never released to the media. 💙

The force encourages anyone who has suffered sexual abuse to come forward, assuring full investigation and support whilst safeguarding privacy and wellbeing.
