An XL Bully named Rolex has been ordered to be destroyed after attacking a woman on a Newport housing estate 🐕⚖️

Manzoor Hussain, 58, of Adeline Street, Newport, received a 16-week suspended sentence after his dog injured a victim at Glan Llyn in the Llanwern area on Thursday, April 10.

At Newport Magistrates’ Court, Hussain pleaded guilty to being the owner of a dog which caused injury while being dangerously out of control, and possessing/having custody of a fighting dog.

The court heard that Hussain had failed to comply with a contingent destruction order made on September 9, 2024. He “did not register his dog with Defra and he had the dog in a public place without a muzzle and off a lead”.

Magistrates were told that “the injuries sustained by the victim and her dog highlight the dog’s poor temperament”.

Hussain was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and must complete 120 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay his victim £537.26 compensation.

Rolex is to be destroyed.
