A brave woman managed to escape through a window after her partner subjected her to a terrifying ordeal in Hawarden on New Year’s Day.

Wesley Florence, 36, of Wirral View, was sentenced to 16 months in prison at Mold Crown Court for assault causing actual bodily harm.

The court heard how Florence locked his partner inside their home on New Year’s Eve, hiding the keys after she returned from walking down the street. The victim was forced to hide behind a dog crate before making a daring escape through a ground floor window, despite Florence grabbing at her feet.

“This case was about control and bullying,” stated His Honour Judge Niclas Parry. “The victim had been punched repeatedly and she had begged him to stop. She had been humiliated, degraded and verbally abused in her own home where she should have felt safe.”

The judge issued a three-year restraining order prohibiting Florence from contacting his victim. 🔐
