A woman from Tredegar has been banned from keeping dogs for five years after admitting multiple animal welfare offences at Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court.
Bonnie Thomas, 28, of Laburnam Avenue, was sentenced to a 12-month community order after pleading guilty to nine counts of animal welfare failures.
The court heard that Thomas had “failed to provide a suitable diet or seek veterinary treatment” for one dog, whilst also admitting failures in “protecting them from pain, suffering, injury and disease” regarding other dogs in her care.
The offences took place on 29th February last year.
Thomas was ordered to carry out 96 hours of unpaid work and must pay £1,000 costs plus a £114 victim surcharge. The five-year disqualification prevents her from keeping any dogs during this period.
