Thief Jailed 28 Weeks for Caerphilly Bike and Shop Thefts

A serial thief has been sentenced to 28 weeks in prison after admitting to a string of thefts across Caerphilly over a two-month period 🚴‍♂️⚖️

John Jones, 36, of no fixed abode, appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to multiple theft charges committed between March and May.

The court heard Jones stole:

  • A mountain bike worth £400 from Steven Rose on March 22
  • Chocolate valued at £3.38 from Lansbury News on April 20
  • Alcohol valued at £36.48 from Premier Stores on May 18
  • Alcohol worth £12.99 from News & Booze on May 22

Jones also admitted to failing to surrender to custody and failing to provide a sample for a class A drug test – offences committed between May 2 and June 1.

Magistrates sentenced him to 28 weeks imprisonment and ordered him to pay compensation to his victims.
