A 51-year-old Swansea man has been sentenced to two years in prison after stealing high-value perfumes and cosmetics worth £2,777 from Boots in Bridgend.
Ryan Robinson, from Heol Calfin in Ravenhill, was captured on CCTV entering the store with two bags, repeatedly selecting items and placing them into one bag before leaving without paying.
The footage showed Robinson later returning to the store where he paid for a small item, but discarded the stolen goods upon noticing a security guard.
During police interview, Robinson admitted being at the store and acknowledged that the individual in the CCTV footage was likely him, but offered no further explanation for his actions.
Despite the stolen items not being recovered, prosecutors secured a conviction based on strong circumstantial evidence, including the CCTV footage and Robinson’s distinctive clothing visible in the recordings.
