A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after stealing a handbag containing valuables worth £1,000 from an Uplands laundrette in Swansea.
Ross Philippart, from Strand in the city centre, took the bag from behind the counter on 7 September 2024. The stolen items included a £700 gold ring and £200 in cash, alongside the £100 handbag itself.
Following investigation, Philippart was arrested and charged on 18 September. He initially pleaded not guilty at Swansea Magistrates Court on 2 January but later changed his plea to guilty. He received a six-month prison sentence on 23 January.
PC Scott Morris said: “Our local businesses have the right to feel safe, and we have a zero-tolerance approach to offending of this nature. We will arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.” 👮
