Officers have confiscated an electric vehicle and issued a warning letter to a van owner during a day of action against illegal off-road riding around Pontypool.
Pontypool’s Neighbourhood Policing Team ran the operation, known as Operation Harley, on Sunday 13 September, focusing on the anti-social and unlawful use of off-road vehicles heading for the mountain area.
What was found
The electric vehicle was taken after officers saw it being ridden along the public highway on its way to the mountain.
A warning letter has also gone to the owner of a van that police believe was being used to ferry off-road vehicles to the area for illegal riding.
Several other off-road bikes were spotted and filmed during the day, and work is continuing to identify who was riding them.
Ongoing priority
Gwent Police say off-road nuisance in the area is reported to them constantly, and they’ve made clear that tackling it remains a priority for the local team.
