A 27-year-old man from Penlan in Swansea will spend seven years behind bars after a jury found him guilty of rape.
Caeran Evans had already admitted a charge of sexual assault before the case went to trial.
The conviction
Evans entered his guilty plea to sexual assault at Swansea Crown Court in December 2025. The rape charge was contested at trial, and on 16 September a jury returned a guilty verdict.
What happened
The offences date back to October 2024. After a night out, Evans offered a woman a lift home.
Later that same night, footage was recorded showing Evans taking drugs that had been placed on the woman’s body while she appeared to be asleep. Sexually degrading words had also been written on her. The video was then passed around on messaging groups.
Sentencing
Evans received a total sentence of seven years in prison. He was also given a restraining order, lasting 15 years, which bans him from contact with the victim.
Police response
Detective Inspector Meirian Evans, of South Wales Police, said:
“Caeran Evans took advantage of his intoxicated victim in a heinous and calculated way.
“That he knew he was being filmed and still carried on for some kind of perverse self-gratification only makes the situation unimaginably more abhorrent.
“Thankfully, the court saw through his protestations and the guilty verdict and seven-year sentence shows that justice has been achieved for the victim.
“We commend her on her bravery in coming forward to report what Caeran Evans did to her, and hope that she can now begin to move on with her life.”
