A 37-year-old shoplifter has been sentenced to prison after stealing more than £460 worth of goods from businesses across Cwmbran and Pontypool during April and May. 📢
Christopher Reilly of Glaslyn Court, Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran pleaded guilty to multiple theft offences when he appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard from prosecutor Laura Thomas that Reilly targeted several local shops including:
- Wine and confectionery worth £68 from Co-op in Cwmbran on April 19
- Coffee valued at £70.80 from Co-op in Pontypool on April 24
- Clothes worth £239.94 from TX Maxx in Cwmbran on April 26
- Coffee valued at £64 from One Stop in Pontypool on April 28
- Washing up liquid worth £21.48 from Pavilion Garage in Pontypool on May 1
District Judge Sophie Toms told the defendant he was “operating as a professional criminal” before sentencing him to 28 weeks in prison. Reilly has also been ordered to pay compensation following his release from custody. 💰
