A Risca man has been sent to prison after admitting to a campaign of harassment and violence against a woman.

Zackary Williams, 31, appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to harassment by putting his victim in fear of violence and assault by beating.

The court heard that Williams made multiple telephone calls to the woman, threatened her with violence, and was abusive towards her on multiple occasions between February 12 and February 20.

He also admitted causing damage to a man’s car windscreen and wiper on North Road in Cardiff during the same period.

Williams was jailed for 32 weeks and made the subject of a two-year restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the victim. He was also ordered to pay her £200 in compensation along with £85 in costs.
