A Cardiff man who targeted local businesses in a series of burglaries has been jailed for two years and four months.

Liam Oliver, 40, pleaded guilty to eight counts of burglary other than dwelling with theft, two counts of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal, and two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal.

He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on December 17 following a South Wales Police investigation.

Between October 2024 and July 2025, Oliver stole cash and alcohol worth over £3,800 from eight businesses along Cowbridge Road East, Cowbridge Road West, Wilson Road, Pen-Y-Lan Road, and Llandaff Road.

Detective Sergeant Madison Ramsden said: “Oliver stole from local businesses in order to fund his own lifestyle and I’m pleased to see today’s sentencing.

“We know how important it is for businesses in our communities to be able to operate without fear or concern – I hope this outcome helps them move forward.”
