A Merthyr Tydfil man who ran a prolific drugs operation has been locked up for over five years after sending thousands of texts offering cocaine, heroin and cannabis to buyers.

Jamie Jessett, 48, was sentenced to five years and 219 days in prison at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Thursday, January 29, 2026, after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

South Wales Police’s Organised Crime Unit launched an investigation to track down Jessett, who they believed was operating an active drugs line. Officers finally caught up with him in October 2025 when they spotted a vehicle linked to him at an address in Merthyr Tydfil.

As police moved in to search the property, Jessett was seen hurling a mobile phone from the top floor into the garden below. He also threw a “football sized” white package into a neighbour’s garden in a desperate attempt to dispose of evidence.

When officers examined the mobile phone, they discovered Jessett had sent more than 2,800 text messages offering various drugs to customers between July and October 2025. A search of the property also uncovered scales and various other drug paraphernalia.

Constable Jonathan Davies said: “The possession and supply of drugs not only has a significant negative impact on those in the community; it also often exploits young and vulnerable people. I’m pleased to see this sentence handed down and hopes it gives Jessett some time to reflect on his actions.”
