A Bangor man who exploited vulnerable people by dealing Class A drugs has been locked up for three years.

Leon John Welling, 25, of Lower Penrallt Road, stood before Caernarfon Crown Court on Tuesday where he was sentenced for multiple drug offences. The dealer had been charged with several counts of possessing Class A and B drugs with intent to supply, as well as simple possession charges.

Police launched a raid on Welling’s home address back in July last year after receiving intelligence about his involvement in the local drug trade. Officers executing the warrant discovered quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis inside the property.

The 25-year-old was later arrested when police found him attempting to flog his mobile phone 📱 – a common tactic used by dealers trying to destroy evidence of their criminal activities.

PC Scott Jones, speaking after the sentencing, didn’t mince his words about the harm Welling caused in the community.

He said: “Welling was exploiting the most vulnerable members of the community, targeting recovering drug users and causing devastating impacts on them for his own monetary gain.

“We remain committed to investigating all intelligence about drugs reported to us to protect and safeguard all Bangor residents.

“Illegal drugs have no place in Gwynedd, and I urge anyone with information about drug supply to report their concerns to police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
