An Abergavenny man has been locked up for 34 weeks after going on a shoplifting spree across three supermarkets in the town.

Guy Seabourne, 39, of no fixed abode, appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to five counts of theft from Tesco, Morrisons and Iceland.

The court heard the offences took place over a short period between February 27 and March 1, during which Seabourne stole meat and alcohol with a combined value of more than £330.

He also admitted a charge of failing to provide a sample for a class A drug test.

The thefts placed Seabourne in breach of a suspended prison sentence order, and District Judge Sophie Toms handed him a total of 34 weeks in custody. He was also ordered to pay compensation to his victims.
