🏰 A violent assault near Caerphilly Castle has left a man with severe injuries, including a fractured skull, broken jaw, and nose, after being attacked with a metal pole.
Scott Chamberlain was assaulted by David Davies, 44, who struck him “on a number of occasions” during the incident on Friday, May 10. The attack occurred near the castle benches after Davies witnessed Mr Chamberlain in an altercation with a relative.
Mr Chamberlain, who suffered “severe blood loss” and later collapsed at home, was rushed to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. He has been left with a permanent 7cm scar on his scalp.
“I’m desperate to get out of Caerphilly for my safety,” Mr Chamberlain stated in his victim impact statement. “I’m living in constant worry of what will happen next to me. I’m dealing with constant headaches and migraines which I find incredibly annoying.”
During Davies’ arrest, police discovered over 400g of cannabis in his flat. At Newport Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in public, and possession with intent to supply a class B drug.
Davies, of Graham Court, Lansbury Park, was sentenced to a total of 50 months in prison and ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge. ⚖️
