A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to 16 months imprisonment after a horrific assault that left his partner running half-dressed to neighbours for safety. 😡
Daniel Hale, of Downton Road, Rumney, Cardiff, committed the violent attack on February 8 after accusing his partner of taking cocaine while they were at the Cwtch pub in Treharris, Merthyr Tydfil.
After forcing the victim into his car and back to her home, Hale stripped her naked, straddled her, and bit her three times on the chin and once on her left cheek. He then suffocated her twice, placing his hands over her mouth and nose.
In her victim impact statement, she said: “It’s had a massive impact on my life due to this incident and I am suffering really badly with nerves and anxiety. I am in a constant state of fear, anxiety and emotional exhaustion.”
“I am ashamed and embarrassed I had to escape and run naked into a neighbour’s address,” she added.
Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court heard the assault occurred after Hale became enraged during a day of drinking. Despite his defence claiming the relationship was initially “happy and healthy,” Judge Vanessa Francis noted: “This was an extremely serious incident… you behaved in a way that caused the victim to run into the street in her underwear as it was safer than staying with you.”
Hale pleaded guilty to intentional suffocation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage. He was also made subject to a restraining order for two years. 🚔
