Loving tributes have been paid to a “much-loved” dad who died following a crash on the A494. Matt Peacock, who was riding a Honda motorbike, died following a collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van near Clwyd Gate – between Ruthin and Mold – shortly after 9am on Thursday, March 6. 💔
A fundraiser has now been launched to support his devastated family. A statement on the GoFundMe website said: “As most of you would have heard by now Matt lost his life in a freak accident on the 6/03/2025. Matt was on his way to work to support his girlfriend Rhian and the girls their youngest only being 12 weeks old.
“Matt was the best dad ever to the girls and Rhian’s soul mate and best friend, I’ve set this up to support Rhian and the girls at this tragic time please share.”
A touching tribute has also been paid to Mr Peacock on the Boots pharmacy chain’s Ruthin store Facebook page, where he had worked.
It said: “As many of you know, our community suffered a heartbreaking loss last week with the passing of Matt Peacock. Matt was a much-loved member of Ruthin and had recently joined the security team at Broughton, where he quickly became a valued part of the team.
“He was known for his kindness, his warm smile, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His absence is deeply felt, but his memory lives on in the hearts of so many.
“To support Rhian and the girls, we are holding a raffle to raise funds in Matt’s memory. We would be incredibly grateful for any donations from local businesses or individuals to help make this as meaningful as possible. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in showing our love and support for his family.
“If you would like to contribute a prize, please drop it off at Boots Ruthin by this Friday, 14th March. The draw will take place on Monday, 24th March.
“Thank you for your kindness and support—it truly shows the strength of our community. Let’s come together to celebrate Matt’s memory and support his family during this difficult time.”
In a further post, the store said that due to high demand, tickets for the raffle are available now, costing £2 each.
