A 26-year-old man has been jailed after pleading guilty to producing Class B drugs at a property in Port Talbot where cannabis plants were literally growing through the walls. 🌱👮

Tu Ba Dien, from Port Talbot, was arrested during a warrant executed at an address on Southdown View, Sandfields on April 10. Officers discovered nearly 200 cannabis plants at the property, with plants growing so extensively they had started pushing through a wall into a neighbouring address.

The Territorial Support Team and local Neighbourhood Policing Team found that all three bedrooms and the attic of the property had been converted for cannabis cultivation, with 170 plants seized in total.

Dien has now been sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Sergeant Carys Pudner said: “Tu Ba Dien was the only person found at the address during the drugs warrant, but as is always the case, he is just one of many people involved in the network enacting this illegal trade. It hasn’t paid off for him – he will lose the next year to a prison term.”
