Caldicot Bike Thief Jailed After Breaking Suspended Sentence

A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of stealing a bicycle worth £200 in Caldicot.

Eugene Scorr, of Longfellow Road, was convicted following a trial at Newport Magistrates’ Court for the theft which occurred on June 27 last year. 🚲

The defendant, who had previously received a suspended sentence and has prior convictions for burglary and theft, denied the charge and also admitted failing to surrender.

District Judge Sophie Toms sentenced Scorr to 34 weeks in custody and ordered him to pay £650 in prosecution costs upon his release.
