A Swansea drug dealer was caught with cocaine hidden in his underwear just two months after being released from prison on licence, Swansea Crown Court heard.

Sean Rowles, 28, was stopped by police on Eaton Crescent in the Uplands area of Swansea on April 16. Officers found £355 in cash on Rowles and a mobile phone containing drug-dealing messages. A woman with him was found with electronic weighing scales hidden under her jumper. 🚔

A subsequent strip search at Swansea Central police station revealed 12.9g of cocaine concealed in Rowles’ underpants.

His defence barrister, Andrew Evans, told the court that Rowles had been complying with Probation Service requirements before “the ghosts of his past caught up with him” and he was required to repay debts from his previous dealing.

Judge Geraint Walters sentenced Rowles to four years in prison, noting that the defendant had “learned nothing from the previous sentence.” The judge ordered the money found on Rowles be forfeited to South Wales Police to help their “fight against those who abuse the public by peddling Class A drugs.”

The court heard no further action was taken against the woman with the scales. Judge Walters remarked: “I am constantly surprised about some decision-making these days.”

Rowles, formerly of Heol Emrys, Penlan, but now of the Premier Inn, Little Wind Street, had previously been sentenced to 40 months in prison in June last year for dealing crack cocaine from a property in Dyfatty flats. 💊

He will serve up to half of the four-year sentence in custody before being released on licence.
