A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to a year and a half behind bars after admitting to attacking three children in a public park in Aberdare.
The assault
Luke Jancouski, of Trecynon, appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Thursday, March 5, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of assault by beating.
The court heard that in early January 2026, three 11-year-old children were playing in Aberdare Park when they were approached by Jancouski, who then attacked them. One child was poked in the eye and struck on the head, a second was punched with such force that he lost a tooth, and the third was punched in the nose.
The investigation
South Wales Police were able to identify Jancouski as the attacker after reviewing CCTV footage from the park, which captured a distinctive tattoo on his hand linking him to the assault.
Sentencing
Jancouski was sentenced to one year and six months in prison for the attacks.
PC Jade Barrett said: “No child should ever be subjected to violence, especially in a place where they’re meant to have fun and enjoy themselves. We are committed to keeping our community safe from these kinds of offenders and Jancouski is now rightfully behind bars for his abhorrent actions.”
