A Cardiff drug dealer was discovered “frantically flushing” his toilet in a desperate attempt to dispose of cocaine when police raided his home. 💊🚽

Jonathan Grossett, 36, was linked to a drugs line after police identified him as the owner of a phone number connected to drug dealing during an unrelated call.

When officers searched his property in Bryn Pinwydden, Pentwyn, on September 12, they found Grossett in the bathroom trying to flush drugs away. Cocaine was later recovered from the toilet.

Police also seized weighing scales covered in white powder, 4.1g of cocaine worth between £280 and £360, and £2,500 in cash. Designer clothing and footwear, believed to be proceeds of criminal activity, were also found.

Officers discovered 982 text messages on Grossett’s phone offering class A drugs for sale.

Amelia Pyke, prosecuting, told Cardiff Crown Court how police discovered Grossett’s connection to the drugs line.

Defence barrister Hashim Salmman mentioned his client’s early plea as mitigation and told the court Grossett suffered with a severe intestine condition requiring hospital checks every three months.

Grossett has 24 previous convictions for 54 offences, including 10 drug offences between 2005 and 2023.

He pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession with intent to supply cocaine, and possession of criminal property.

Judge Lucy Crowther sentenced Grossett to five years and seven months in prison, with all terms running concurrently. He was also ordered to pay a statutory surcharge.
