A serial offender has been jailed for eight weeks after stealing nearly £475 worth of chocolates during two shoplifting sprees at the same convenience store in Barry.
Jamie Colburn, 44, of no fixed abode, Barry, appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from One Stop.
The thefts
The court heard Colburn first targeted the store on February 22, making off with £151.75 worth of confectionery. Less than two weeks later, on March 6, he returned and stole a further £322.80 – bringing the total value of chocolates taken to £474.55.
Sentencing
The court was told Colburn committed both offences whilst on licence and that he has a “history of offending.”
He was sentenced to eight weeks in custody and ordered to pay compensation.
