Bridgend man jailed for cocaine and cannabis supply

Daniel Merry, 36, from Bridgend, has been jailed for four years and four months after officers stopped a van with no MOT and went on to uncover evidence linking him to the supply of cannabis and cocaine.

He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday 8 October, having indicated guilty pleas to two drugs charges.

The charges

Merry admitted:

  • One count of being concerned in the supply of a Class B controlled drug, cannabis
  • One count of being concerned in the supply of cocaine

The stop

The case started in August 2026. Officers on mobile patrol spotted a Ford Transit connected to Merry, and because the van had no MOT, they pulled it over and spoke to him.

When Merry was searched, he had an orange iPhone and a black wallet holding £700.

The search

Officers then searched an address connected to Merry. There they recovered:

  • Assorted bags of cash with pills inside
  • A lock knife
  • A crossbow

Phone evidence

When Merry’s phone was downloaded, it held messages tying him to the supply of cocaine in the Bridgend area.

What police said

Police Constable Justyn Lewis, of South Wales Police, said: “Our teams acted on instinct, and this has resulted in Merry being behind bars for some time.

“Drugs have a huge impact on our communities so making sure these drugs stay of the street is a priority for our teams.”
