A 45-year-old Chepstow man has avoided jail after pleading guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. 🧐
James Crump, of Raglan Way, Bulwark, was arrested after having sexual conversations with someone he believed was an underage girl named Autumn, who was actually a decoy.
Newport Magistrates’ Court heard that the offence took place on May 17 last year.
Crump was sentenced to a 12-month community order and must complete 100 hours of unpaid work along with a 12-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
He will remain on the sex offenders register for five years and has been made subject to a sexual harm prevention order until 2030.
The court also ordered Crump to pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. ⚖️
