Padel fanatics in Cardiff won’t have to wait much longer for a dedicated venue, with Padium confirmed to launch at Cardiff Bay Retail Park this Saturday, 14th March.
The company behind one of London’s most popular padel centres in Canary Wharf has chosen Cardiff as its first location outside the capital – and the setup goes well beyond what most players might expect.
Eight courts under one roof
All eight courts sit indoors, keeping play going through every season. Coaching staff will be on hand for newcomers picking up a racket for the first time, as well as those looking to sharpen their skills.
A social and wellness destination
Padium has kitted out the 35,000 sq ft space to function more like a lifestyle hub than a traditional sports facility. Players can unwind in a dedicated wellness zone complete with two ice baths, exercise bikes and a sauna overlooking the courts. A lounge, co-working area, kitchen, shop and bar round out the offering, with a DJ booth adding energy to the atmosphere. Drinks range from smoothies and juices to alcoholic options.
What you’ll pay
Off-peak court hire comes in at £60, with peak slots at £70. Monthly membership packages offering reduced rates are also planned.
Padel – often likened to a cross between tennis and squash – has exploded in popularity thanks to its accessibility and social nature, appealing to all ages and abilities. Padium’s arrival could give the sport a significant boost in south Wales.
