A Newport man has been sentenced to jail after admitting to controlling and coercive behaviour against his girlfriend. 🔒
Jordan Hill, 33, from Newport pleaded guilty to charges that he “made constant demands for money and transport, engaged in repeat demeaning verbal abuse, threatened to damage property, made repeat unwanted contact and used physical violence towards his victim”.
The defendant, who resides at Fairoak Avenue, Newport, also admitted to assault by beating.
Newport Magistrates’ Court heard that the offences took place between February 7 and April 27. Hill was sentenced to 18 weeks imprisonment.
He must also pay £85 costs following his release from jail. ⚖️
