Three men have been jailed for a combined total of 14 years and eight months after pleading guilty to running a cocaine supply operation across Newport, Cwmbran and Pontypool. 🚔

Callum Nocivelli (25), Gareth Hall (26), and Declan Carr (26) – all from Newport – admitted conspiracy to supply the class A controlled drug at Newport Crown Court on Friday 28 March. Nocivelli and Carr also pleaded guilty to acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

The court handed down the following sentences:

  • Gareth Hall: 6 years
  • Callum Nocivelli: 4 years and 8 months
  • Declan Carr: 4 years

Gwent Police discovered the operation after seizing a mobile phone during an unrelated investigation, which led them to uncover two drugs lines sending hundreds of text messages advertising cocaine sales.

In July last year, the East Serious Organised Crime team executed early-morning warrants at four properties in the Bettws area as part of Operation Wellsted. While Nocivelli and Carr were arrested immediately, Hall was detained later by an off-duty officer in a Cwmbran supermarket car park in September after returning from abroad.

PC Matthew Tucker, the officer in the case, said: “The evidence we gathered showed clearly that the two mobile phone numbers associated with this organised crime group had a plethora of text messages connected to the sale of cocaine.

“We identified Nocivelli as having a leading role in managing this illegal drugs operation; Hall was also a significant member, and Carr was dispatched as a runner to carry out the deals.

“With overwhelming evidence against them, all three defendants had little option but to plead guilty to the charges they faced in court.”
