A prolific thief has been sentenced to 36 weeks in prison after stealing deodorant, candles and groceries worth more than £420 during a crime spree across Newport last month. 🛒⚖️
Paul Gerry, 42, of Bridge Street, Newport, pleaded guilty to six counts of theft at the city’s magistrates’ court.
The defendant targeted multiple businesses between 9th and 26th July, stealing:
- Four bottles of Bold laundry detergent worth £30 from Home Bargains on 9th July
- Deodorant worth £83.50 from Boots on 11th July
- Deodorant worth £99.40 from Boots on 15th July
- Goods worth £55 from Malpas Service Station on 20th July
- Candles worth £105.96 from Boots on 22nd July
- Goods worth £47.72 from Aldi on 26th July
Gerry, who has a long list of previous convictions, was ordered to pay compensation to his victims following his release from prison.
