A Pembrokeshire man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after violently attacking two police officers who were trying to protect a domestic violence victim.
Alexander Campbell, 30, from Church Terrace, Monkton, assaulted PC160 Thomas and PC1338 Jones when they attended an address in Glebelands, Hakin at around 7.30pm on November 20, 2025.
The officers were responding to reports of domestic assault when Campbell attacked them whilst they attempted to arrest him for injuring a woman at the property.
All three people attacked by Campbell sustained injuries, swelling and bruising. The victim of the domestic assault sustained a facial injury and swelling to her eye, whilst PC160 Thomas sustained a laceration to her temple requiring stitches, and PC1338 Jones sustained bruising and swelling.
Campbell pleaded guilty to one count of ABH for the domestic assault, one count of GBH, and another count of ABH.
On Wednesday, December 17, he was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court to two years imprisonment for GBH against PC160 Thomas, 12 months imprisonment concurrent for ABH of his domestic assault victim, and another 12 months imprisonment concurrent for ABH against PC1338 Jones.
He was also in breach of a suspended sentence and was sentenced to a further six months consecutive for this offence.
Temporary Superintendent Louise Harries said: “These officers were responding to a call to help a domestic violence victim, and their focus was on protecting that victim and bringing the offender to justice. No one should go to work fearing they will be assaulted, especially when they are working hard to keep others safe.
“This was a violent attack on officers simply doing their job. We welcome the outcome at court and the custodial sentence which will protect the victim from further harm. It also reiterates the point that assaults on emergency service workers will not be tolerated and will be dealt with robustly.”
