A 34-year-old man has been jailed after a violent assault on police officers in Holyhead. 👮♀️
Brian George Owens, of Maes Hyfryd, Holyhead, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Wednesday April 9th where he admitted to assaulting an emergency worker, two counts of threats to kill, assault and breach of a criminal behaviour order.
Police were called to Turkey Shore Road on February 27th following reports of an assault involving Owens. When officers arrived at the scene, Owens violently lashed out, grabbing one officer by the hair and pulling out a clump before striking her in the face. He then placed his hands around another officer’s neck and strangled her.
Despite this sustained and violent attack, the officers managed to arrest and detain Owens. He has now been sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison.
District Inspector Wayne Francis said: “Owens is a prolific offender who was already subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order before the incident. We will not tolerate any assault against an emergency service worker whilst trying to do their jobs to keep others safe. I would urge members of the public to call out violence towards any emergency worker, who attend work every day to face danger to help and protect you.”
