A Gwent man with a peculiar taste for high-end vacuum cleaners and sweet treats has been jailed following a series of thefts across South Wales.
Marc Paul, 48, from Ebbw Vale, helped himself to a £140 Shark vacuum cleaner from Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith store, before making off with £500 worth of goods from their Cwmbran branch.
Not content with his haul, Paul attempted to steal Lego from Sainsbury’s Newport and later pinched pastries and sweets valued at £25 from LJ Cook & Sons petrol station in Brynmawr.
Newport Magistrates’ Court sentenced Paul to 32 weeks in prison, citing his “history of offending” and the fact these crimes were committed whilst under a community order.
The Stanfield Street resident has also been ordered to pay compensation for his festive crime spree.
