A five-year-old girl was taken to hospital following an incident on a helicopter funfair ride at the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza on Saturday morning. 🎡
The incident, which occurred around 10:15 BST and involved two children, left the young girl requiring medical attention. Organisers have confirmed she is now “in a stable condition.”
Chris Williams, director of Llandudno Community Events Cic, said an investigation by the ride operator determined the cause was “human error.”
“We wish the family a speedy recovery from the incident and are here to support them in any way we can,” Williams stated.
According to Williams, the parents said “it could have been a lot worse.” While the operator was permitted to continue operating, the ride remained closed for the remainder of the event “out of respect” for the family.
The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed one ambulance was dispatched to Mostyn Street at approximately 10:20, with the child transported to hospital shortly after.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has acknowledged awareness of the incident and sent representatives to conduct an investigation.
North Wales Police reported their patrol officers attended the scene, and the girl’s family sought medical attention at a nearby first aid station. The force added: “Officers have informed Health and Safety Executive officials, who are now leading the investigation into the circumstances of the incident.”
The Llandudno Victorian Exchange, which ran from Saturday until Monday, describes itself as “Wales’ largest free family event.” 🎪
