Caldicot Man Dies Before Court Sentencing in Image Case

⚖️ A 37-year-old Caldicot resident has died before his scheduled court appearance, following recent convictions for possession of illegal images.

Simon Crook, from Tennyson Road, was found guilty on October 28 at Newport Magistrates’ Court of three charges, including possession of extreme pornographic material and possession of indecent images of children.

The defendant, who had maintained his innocence throughout the trial, passed away the weekend before his next scheduled court date on November 5.

At the time of his death, Crook had been released on unconditional bail. The Gwent Coroner’s office has confirmed that an inquest will be opened to determine the cause of death.
