A Tredegar resident has spoken about the devastating impact after a burglar entered her home and stole her car, which was later found crashed and abandoned.
Shane Price, 37, entered the property through an unlocked door on December 6, taking car keys before driving off in the homeowners’ red Ford Focus. A neighbour spotted a man in a grey Puffa jacket leaving in the vehicle.
Police later discovered the stolen car abandoned with deployed airbags, locating Price 300 metres from the crash site. The stolen keys were found in his jacket.
The victim shared: “As time has gone on more I process what’s happened and think about the severity of the incident. It’s always on my mind when I pass the hallway and picture him taking keys from our address. When I wake up at night and the house is in darkness and I go to the stairs I see him standing there. It’s frightening and leaves me feeling uneasy… I can’t believe the audacity of him coming into our home and invading our private space, I feel violated. The car being taken has impacted me financially as it was written off.”
Price pleaded guilty to burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and possession of a class A drug at Cardiff Crown Court. He was sentenced to 876 days and disqualified from driving for 15 months, plus 438 days of his prison term. 🏛️
