A burglar who broke into a McDonald’s restaurant on Christmas Day has been handed a two-year ban from a major Newport retail park.
Kieron Davies, 39, has been barred from entering the Harlech Retail Park on Cardiff Road following a series of offences that landed him in prison for 12 months. The criminal behaviour order was imposed after he admitted burglary with intent to steal at the McDonald’s located at the retail park on 25 December last year.
Just days after the festive break-in, Davies struck again – this time targeting the Tarana Indian restaurant on Chepstow Road in Newport, where he pleaded guilty to the same charge.
The court heard Davies’ offending continued into the new year when he travelled to Cwmbran on 11 January. There, he stole food worth £8.50 from Iceland and goods valued at £13.52 from One Beyond.
The two-year criminal behaviour order carries strict conditions beyond the Harlech Retail Park ban. Davies is also prohibited from entering Cwmbran Centre, including its Asda supermarket and car park, as well as the town’s B&M store.
Davies, who has no fixed abode in Newport, appeared before District Judge Sophie Toms at the city’s magistrates’ court. He was ordered to pay £100 in compensation to both McDonald’s and the Tarana restaurant.
The court was told Davies has a “disregard for court orders, people and property.”
