Banned driver jailed after high-speed chase in Merthyr

A Merthyr Tydfil man who was already banned from the roads has been jailed after leading police on a high-speed chase through the town centre.

Jordan Davies received a 16-week prison sentence on Monday following the incident just a day earlier. Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team attempted to stop Davies in Merthyr town centre on Sunday, but instead of pulling over, he sped off in a dangerous attempt to escape.

Police later tracked Davies down to his home address, where he was arrested. The court heard that Davies was already serving a driving disqualification at the time of the offence, making his decision to get behind the wheel even more reckless.

South Wales Police praised the work of their Safer Neighbourhood Team for removing another dangerous driver from the streets and protecting the community.
