A 27-year-old man from Aberdare has been sent to prison for more than three years after being caught red-handed dealing drugs on a local street.

Callum Blackley was sentenced to three years and four months at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday following his guilty pleas to multiple drug offences. Officers on patrol in Market Street, Aberdare witnessed Blackley conducting a street deal with two other men, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction.

When police stopped and searched Blackley, they discovered a substantial drug operation in his possession. Officers found 18 half gram deals of cocaine packaged in clear plastic bags, eight bags of cannabis, and a metal tin containing three pre-rolled cannabis joints. He was also carrying £1,030 in cash.

The evidence mounted further when officers seized Blackley’s mobile phone. After downloading its contents, they found messages directly linking him to drug dealing activities across the local area.

Blackley appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday November 7, where he admitted guilt to all charges against him: being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis, being in possession of cocaine, being in possession of cannabis, and acquisition/use of criminal property. He returned to the same court on Tuesday for sentencing.

PC Allcock said: “This case highlights our commitment to tackling drug-related crime and ensuring that those who seek to profit from illegal activities face the consequences of their actions. We will continue to work tirelessly to make our communities safer.”

“We encourage anyone with information regarding drug-related activities to report it to us. The local community’s vigilance plays a crucial role in supporting our efforts and protect public safety.”
