Two Abertillery men have been sentenced to more than six years in prison for supplying cocaine in the Blaenau Gwent area following a successful police operation. ⚖️
Iuean Evans, 35, and Christopher Rock, 38, admitted to being concerned in the supply of cocaine when they appeared for sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday 11 April.
Evans also pleaded guilty to additional charges including being concerned in the supply of cannabis, possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, and possession of a device designed to be part of a prohibited weapon.
Rock admitted to an additional charge of concealing/disguising/converting/transferring/removing criminal property.
A 43-year-old woman also admitted to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and received a suspended sentence.
The illegal activities were uncovered during Operation Merrick, which included warrants carried out in Abertillery in September last year.
PC Ifan O’Sullivan from Gwent Police said: “The evidence we gathered during Op Merrick showed clearly that the three defendants were involved in the supply of illegal drugs. With overwhelming evidence against them, all three had little option but to plead guilty to the charges they faced in court. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that drug dealers who bring misery, suffering and fear to our communities, are caught and brought to justice.”
Evans was sentenced to four years and one month imprisonment, while Rock was jailed for two years and seven months.
PC O’Sullivan added: “We encourage anyone with concerns over illegal drugs in their area to get in touch with us via the website, calling 101 or sending us a direct message on social media, so that we can take action. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, with information or contact them via their website.”
