Jack Heard, 28, wrote off a disabled man’s Motability car during a 90mph pursuit in Pontypool, leaving the owner housebound. He was caught driving dangerously again in Cwmbran seven months later and has been jailed for two years.

Mohammad Haddad, 70, of Fields Park Road, Newport, was convicted at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court of offences including attempted rape and indecent assault dating from the 1980s. He was handed an extended sentence of seven years and will sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

Ryan Smith, 33, was caught with cocaine and a burner phone in his Range Rover on Lliswerry Road just months after leaving prison for the same offence. A court heard he had been sent a photograph of his parents by men demanding he work off a drugs debt.

Lee Scarfe, 38, of Aberdare, was found to have benefited by £545,935.89 from his role in a Rhondda Cynon Taf cocaine line. A Proceeds of Crime Act hearing at Cardiff Crown Court ordered him to repay £4,860 – all he has left.

Darren Lewis, 52, pushed his wife to the floor and stamped repeatedly on her chest and torso after a row that began at a pub in Knighton. Neighbours who heard her screams called police fearing for her life.
