Louise Harris drank a bottle of vodka from her client’s fridge before screaming abuse at the 81-year-old dementia sufferer she had been hired to care for. A judge at Swansea Crown Court told her the treatment had been “heartless and cruel”.

Jamie Rawson, 56, of Swansea city centre, has been given an extended 17-year sentence after being convicted of raping, strangling and falsely imprisoning a woman he had met hours earlier. He will serve 12 years in custody followed by five years on extended licence.

Jamie Nugent-Squires, 40, was arrested in Neath town centre after arranging to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old boy, in breach of a sexual harm prevention order. A judge at Swansea Crown Court ruled a standard prison term would not be enough to protect the public.

A judge has ordered North Wales Police to explain why a man who threatened in custody to kill and dismember a woman accusing him of rape was released on bail. Martin Edwards, 41, was later disarmed in Llandudno by a former soldier and has been jailed for three years and eight months.

Craig Jones, 41, has been jailed for three years after neighbourhood officers caught him dealing crack cocaine and heroin at Callaghan Square in Butetown. A search of his room uncovered a further 36 wraps hidden inside a plastic pot concealed in a bacon roll.

Shujer Hussain, 45, was sentenced to three and a half years at Cardiff Crown Court after Gwent Police recovered wraps of cocaine and heroin, cash and burner phones from his Newport home. Messages on his phone showed he had been supplying crack cocaine and heroin at street level.

Colin Bick, 49, of Marl Court, Thornhill, Cwmbran, has indicated guilty pleas at Newport Magistrates’ Court to possessing 216 indecent images of children. He was granted unconditional bail and placed on the sex offenders register ahead of sentencing on 6 August.

Benllech man jailed for six years for Cheshire rape

Connor Dunkley, 31, of Benllech, has been jailed for six years after being found guilty of raping a woman in Cheshire. He was also convicted of criminal damage and a further offence, and was sentenced at Chester Crown Court.

Oakley Nunes, 24, has been disqualified from driving for three years after admitting he failed to provide a blood sample when suspected of drink or drug driving at Ystrad Mynach. Newport magistrates also imposed a community order and financial penalties.
