A Llandudno woman has been jailed for three years and four months. She acted as the local link between a child and a man supplying drugs into North Wales from Merseyside.

Carla Stubbs, 37, admitted her involvement at an early stage and was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court. She is the seventh person convicted under Operation Noriker and the last defendant in the case to be sentenced.

The go-between

Stubbs was the organised crime group’s facilitator on the ground in North Wales. The group wanted its supply to reach across the region, and Stubbs encouraged the child to get involved. For the rest of the offending, she was the point of contact between the youngster and Steven Moorcroft.

Payments from both the child and Moorcroft went through her banking. She also stayed in frequent contact with the child whenever they travelled to Merseyside to restock.

Operation Noriker

The Central Priority Crime Team led the investigation, which was described as complex. It focused on Class A and B drugs moving between Merseyside and North Wales. At its heart was a child from North Wales who became caught up in supplying MDMA, ketamine and cannabis by the kilo. Moorcroft was the one sending the drugs over the border.

Moorcroft was jailed for nine years and nine months last month. The teenager cannot be identified for legal reasons. They were given a detention order at youth court earlier this year.

Police response

Detective Inspector Kris Williams said after the hearing: “I welcome today’s sentence, which underlines that North Wales Police will not tolerate the criminal exploitation of children and we will make every effort to bring offenders to justice.”
