A woman who attempted to steal almost £1,000 worth of beauty items from a Bridgend shopping outlet will spend Christmas behind bars.

Emma Faulkner, 48, from Wildmill, was sentenced to four weeks in prison at Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 18 after pleading guilty to theft from a shop.

The theft took place on October 13 at The Cosmetic Company store in McArthurGlen, Bridgend. Faulkner was stopped as she left the shop after being spotted stealing items totalling £927.50.

PC Emma Thomas said: “Faulkner will feel the cost of Christmas this year as she spends the festive period in jail.

“We are committed to ensuring businesses and shoppers in our community are safe. I hope this sentence reassures them that we will take action and ensure shoplifters are held to account.”
