A pair of young men from Wiltshire are beginning lengthy prison sentences after being caught running a major drugs operation in Cardiff city centre.

Lucus Williams was spotted by undercover officers dealing narcotics on Queen Street last November. When plain-clothes police moved in to arrest the 21-year-old, they discovered he was carrying more than 100 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine, along with £370 in cash and several mobile phones used as drugs lines.

The arrest of Williams opened up a broader investigation that led detectives to 19-year-old Callum Mayer. Officers linked him to an extensive network of nine separate drugs lines operating across the city. When Mayer was arrested weeks later, he was found carrying both a drugs phone and an illegal Rambo-style knife.

Both men admitted their roles in the operation. Williams pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply heroin, being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, being concerned in the supply of heroin, possessing criminal property, and possession of a knife. He was sentenced to two years and eight months at Cardiff Crown Court on 9th January.

Mayer pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin, being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, and possession of a knife. He received three years and four months in a young offender institution when he appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on 15th January.

Detective Constable Daniel Davies, the officer in the case from South Wales Police, said: “Drug dealers live a life on the run looking over their shoulder. We know who they are and officers are out looking for them day and night.

“We will not tolerate drugs in our communities.

“We act upon the information provided to us by the public, so please keep it coming and continue to work with us.”
