A 33-year-old from the Rhondda has been sentenced to more than three years behind bars for his role in supplying cocaine in the valley.

The arrest

Daryl Bees was stopped by police in Tonypandy on February 22 and found to be carrying 180g of cocaine – a haul with an estimated street value exceeding £20,000.

Phone evidence

Officers also seized the defendant’s mobile phone during the arrest. When it was examined, investigators uncovered a series of messages from drug users which showed Bees had been actively involved in supplying cocaine over a period stretching back to November 29, 2025.

The charges

Bees, of Kenry Street, Tonypandy, went on to plead guilty to two offences – possession with intent to supply a class A drug and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Sentencing

At Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday, the court heard in mitigation that Bees himself suffered from an addiction to class A drugs.

Recorder Greg Bull KC described both offences as “extremely serious” but said he regarded the supply offence as the more serious of the two.

He told Bees: “Those who deal in class A drug dealing deal in misery. You know how miserable addiction to class A drugs can be.

“You were dealing in a relatively large quantity, you had drugs when you were arrested…

“You were playing a significant role to supply these drugs in the Rhondda Valley at the time of your arrest.”

Bees was sentenced to a total of 40 months in prison.
