Three Albanian nationals have been sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court after police discovered a massive drugs operation worth nearly £90,000 💰
Ahmet Cenaj, 24, was initially stopped by police in Newport last October whilst driving a Mercedes. Officers found 950g of cannabis in a black bin bag in the boot, along with £445 in cash and two mobile phones.
When police later accessed his phones, they uncovered multiple messages discussing the purchase and sale of up to 7kg of cannabis, plus videos showing Cenaj weighing and packaging the drug.
The investigation led officers to Cenaj’s home in Mill Street in January, where they spotted Ergys Nika, 22, leaving the property with a large bag containing cannabis.
Inside the flat, police found Jetmir Nika, 19, in possession of a disposable vape containing seven grip seal bags of cocaine. A search of the property revealed a staggering haul: 29kg of cannabis, 197 grip seal bags of cocaine weighing 58.5g, and £37,500 in cash 🚔
Prosecutor Byron Broadstock told the court the cannabis was worth £79,160 and the cocaine was worth £10,740.
All three defendants pleaded guilty to drugs supply charges. Defence barristers noted that Cenaj had spent 137 days on curfew, whilst Ergys Nika wished to return to Albania to see his family, and Jetmir Nika wanted to turn away from crime.
Cenaj received 12 months imprisonment, whilst both Ergys Nika and Jetmir Nika were sentenced to 45 months imprisonment each.
