A 29-year-old man from Llanrumney has been sentenced to six years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to his leading role in a drug supply operation that was flooding local streets with Class A and B drugs. 📱⚖️
Matthew Jones was jailed at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, 27 June 2025, following an investigation by Cardiff & Vale Organised Crime Team. At an earlier hearing, Jones pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine, and cannabis, as well as possessing criminal property and driving with no licence and no insurance.
The investigation began when officers seized a mobile phone as part of a separate inquiry and discovered Snapchat conversations discussing the sale of large amounts of Class A and B drugs, along with the substantial profits the organised crime group were making from their criminal activity.
Jones was identified as one of the people involved in the chat and was receiving daily updates on sales progress and profits. The investigation revealed he was playing a leading role within the crime group.
Jones admitted to his involvement in the supply of 466 grams of heroin, 1kg of cocaine, and 3kgs of cannabis. He also received a four-year driving ban.
PC Homan said: “Jones’s drug dealing will undoubtedly have impacted the local community, and I’m pleased to see this significant sentence. There is zero-tolerance for drug supply on our streets and our organised crime team are committed to identifying and apprehending those involved.”
